For Nokia 7650 and 3650 users with GPRS, you must use an Internet access point rather than a WAP access point, and you must use 0.0.0.0 as your gateway IP address. In Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Access points, create or edit an access point so that the "Access point name" refers to an Internet access point rather than a WAP access point, and set the "Gateway IP address" to 0.0.0.0. The access point name will vary depending on your carrier; here are some Internet access points that we know of:
Mobile operator | Access point name |
---|---|
TIM (Italy) | uni.tim.it |
Vodafone Omnitel (Italy) | web.omnitel.it |
Wind (Italy) | internet.wind |
O2 (UK) | mobile.o2.co.uk |
Orange (UK) | orangeinternet |
Orange (France) | orange.fr |
SFR (France) | websfr |
Bouygues Telecom (France) | eBouygTel.com |
Swisscom | gprs.swisscom.ch |
Smart (Philippines) | internet |
Fido (Canada) | internet.fido.ca |
Rogers AT&T (Canada) | internet.com |

WebViewer is not usable on the Siemens SL45i due to memory fragmentation on that device. We are hopeful that Siemens will provide an improved heap manager in the future.
Some Motorola Accompli 008 users with Vodafone in the U.K. have reported problems using WebViewer. It appears that this service provider does not allow non-WAP connections over GPRS. To work around the problem, set your device to use WAP dialup instead of GPRS.
When editing a bookmark on the Motorola Accompli 008 or A388, the field for the bookmark's URL is not initially visible on the screen. One must scroll down (using the rocker switch) to see the URL field.
For Motorola Accompli 008 and A388 users, if the device's language is set to "automatic" (in Setup -> Initial Setup -> Language), the device always reports the language as Chinese. Some sites will therefore send content in Chinese, which may not be the language desired by the user. To work around this problem, Accompli 008 and A388 users should avoid selecting "automatic" as the language in the device setup.
The user interface on the MIDP device may be slow to respond while WebViewer is loading images from the network.
The following features are not supported:
Web pages that depend on any of these features will not work with WebViewer.
Only the first frame of an animated GIF may be viewed through WebViewer. This could be considered a feature.
There is no support for right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. All left-to-right languages are supported, provided that the device has the appropriate fonts. Note, however, that lines are currently always broken at whitespace, despite other conventions of some languages.
